Being a freelancer wasn't always so easy. The first cotton mills, built in the 1700s in England, hired freelancers to spin raw cotton into clothes. They worked for 12 hours a day. 7. Days. A week. And if that wasn't bad enough, those freelancers had to pay to repair machines damaged during their shifts. Now, freelancers are the ones who build and repair machines. Funny how things change.
